What is acreom?

acreom is a knowledge base with tasks running on local markdown files built for developers. Like an IDE it is assistive, integrated, and private.

Motivation

What's the last time you loved using a tool as your daily driver for knowledge base and tasks? We had a hard time recalling too, so we decided to scratch our own itch and build something we would love using ourselves as individuals and as a team. What would such a tool look like? Markdown with tasks, capture-first organise-later interface, data ownership, extensible, collaboration as first-citizen and well integrated with other dev tools. These are all the fundamental characteristics we've put together after thinking about solving this problem and talking to many developers out there who are tired of living in the project management tools their PMs like to use.

IDEs have supercharged the productivity of developers by integrating editor with tools they use the most (terminal, database view, git etc.) and assistance in a form of intelligent code completion. Why can't workflow tools work the same?

What makes acreom different?

First of all, we like talking to users and shipping fast. Everyone in the team is laser focused on shipping the best user experience possible to fulfill our above mentioned goal.

Markdown & tasks

We believe a knowledge base is often executable, in individual use cases but also in teams. It's a dynamic part of the workflow. Roadmaps become tasks and finished feature specs are documented.

For this reason, the core philosophy of acreom is to merge markdown with tasks in the best possible way.

Capture-first organize-later

acreom is designed for capturing information quickly and easily. Unlike other tools, you don't need to organise before you capture.

It then offers the flexibility to organize the information according to your own likes and needs. Since organising is a tedius task, acreom also helps you with it as much as possible by rolling over your incomplete agenda to the next day, structuring your natural language input or providing powerful search to enable a quick access to your information.

Data ownership

The best privacy policy is not made by words but technical decisions. You are not a data sample for us just like we refuse to be one when we use other apps. acreom is local-first and soon end-to-end encrypted.
